How can I tell if I have XP Service Pack 2 installed?

Answer / Solution

How to tell if you have a XP Service Pack 2 installed

Overview

A pre-requisite for many InfraWare programs running on Windows XP is Service Pack 2 (SP2).  SP2 is important for compatibility with many required Microsoft components.  It is also important to protect your machine (and the InfraWare 360 platform) for Windows vulnerabilities which might otherwise allow spyware or malicious content.

Solution

To determine your version of Windows and whether you have SP2, right-click on My Computer and choose Properties.  Many computers have a My Computer icon on the Desktop.  If your computer doesn't, you can find it on the Start menu.  The Properties screen will look something like this:

Notice your version of Windows and the Service Pack Level.

As of the date of this article, the supported versions for v2006 applications are:

  • Windows 2000 SP4
  • Windows XP SP2 (strongly preferred)

If using a v2007 application, support is included for:

  • Windows Vista (no service pack available)
